Many breeders prefer not to do F2 breedings simply because most families prefer less shedding. Though there are families that love the Goldendoodle personality and not a lot of grooming and a flat coat is a great choice for them.

You maybe asking yourself why?

This pairing would be made from breeding an F1 to F1  75% of the litter would/could have normal doodles coat expression (bangs, beard and coat that grows equal length all over) and 25% of the litter would/could be flat coats.

Flat coat Goldendoodles still have the same personality as any other Goldendoodle but will have coat similar to a Golden Retriever and there coat can shed from mild to severe

Some breeders will still breed for this generation because the puppies are 50% Golden Retriever and 50% Poodle.

Multigenerational or also called Multi Gen

Creating a Multi. Gen. Doodle can be done in multiple ways.

  • F1b x F1b = Multi. Gen. offspring

  • Multi. Gen. Doodle x Poodle = Multi. Gen. offspring

  • Multi. Gen. Doodle x Golden Retriever = Multi. Gen. offspring

  • Multi. Gen Doodle x Multi. Gen. Doodle = Multi. Gen. offspring

What does (b) represents in Doodle breeding programs

(b) stands for "Bred Back to one of the purebred breeds" that started the (foundation) of each hybrid breed. In a Goldendoodle breeding program for example that would be a Golden Retriever or Poodle. In a Bernedoodle breeding program the (foundation) breeds would be the Bernese Mountain Dog and Poodle.
